Towns announce debut album ‘sentimental slowdown’ + Release new single TANTRUM

Adelaide’s pop-punk duo TOWNS today announce their debut album sentimental slowdown, set for release Friday 15th November via Farmer & The Owl/BMG.

Celebrating 10 years of friendship, TOWNS (Aston Valladares and Dan Steinert) reflect on the journey that led to sentimental slowdown. “We first met on our first day of uni, dreaming of achieving just a fraction of the incredible things we’ve been fortunate enough to do. This album feels like a chapter in the story of everything we’ve experienced together,” the band shares.

Alongside the announcement, the duo share the latest single from the forthcoming album, TANTRUM,’  a bold and energetic anthem that channels frustration into a punchy, cathartic release. The song dives deep into the idea of recognising one’s own childish behaviours and figuring out which to keep and which to let go of as you navigate adulthood. As TOWNS explain, “Unfortunately, as a child, those emotions weren’t taken seriously, so we bring them into adulthood unresolved.

sentimental slowdown is an exploration of nostalgia and the tension between personal growth and holding onto the past. The album captures the feeling of wanting to slow down in a fast-paced world that constantly pushes you to “grow up and let go.”

Known for their high-energy performances and infectious blend of pop-punk nostalgia this November, TOWNS will be hitting the road for their sentimental slowdown tour, bringing their energetic live shows to fans across Australia.

TOWNS continue to deliver their good-time vibes with their live shows, diving headfirst into 2024 announcing several national tours including supporting Between You & Me in May and Trophy Eyes and Boston Manor (UK) in August. They have also previously performed alongside Turnstile (USA), Hot Mulligan (US), Free Throw (US), Kisschasy, The Jungle Giants, and Turnover (USA), among many others. With fast-paced riffs, introspective lyrics, and a love for the past, the album is set to capture the hearts of both old fans and new.

TANTRUM is out now.
