Private Wives release new single Haymaker

Private Wives are a fierce all-girl punk band from Wollongong, unafraid to bring their raw, unfiltered energy to every stage. With a sound that’s as loud as it is unapologetic, they blend gritty guitars, heavy drums, and lyrics that hit hard. Their music is a battle cry for anyone who’s ever felt frustrated, misunderstood, or fed up with the status quo. Whether they’re tearing through a blistering anthem or laying down a gritty riff, Private Wives bring a punk edge that’s rebellious, bold, and unapologetically real.

Today they drop their new single Haymaker, a blistering anthem that embodies the chaotic fight in relationships, where emotions explode like punches in the ring.

The song reflects the anger, frustration, and confusion that come from constantly battling to keep things together, even when it feels like you’re constantly hitting the canvas. The lyrics speak to the emotional bruises – splitting lips, cracked teeth, and the feeling of being caught in a vicious cycle of pushing and pulling. It’s about the internal struggle of wanting to let go, yet still being drawn to the fight, questioning whether it’s worth it, and ultimately, feeling like there’s no one left to blame but yourself. Haymaker is a raw, no-holds-barred reflection of the wear and tear that love can put on you, leaving you wondering if it’s worth getting back in the ring.”

Recorded at The Pet Food Factory by Frenzal Rhomb frontman Jason Whalley, mixed by Mo Mayhem, and mastered by legend Mikey Young, Haymaker is the first single to come from Private Wives’s debut album Three Of Swords to be released at the end of the year.

With an ethos built on defiance and sisterhood, their songs are a reflection of the anger, passion, and raw emotions that come with navigating a world that often feels stacked against you. From the sweaty dives of Wollongong to wherever their music takes them, Private Wives are a force to be reckoned with – a sonic uprising wrapped in chaos and heart.
