Farmer & The Owl are expanding their label family, welcoming their first international signing into the fold. Joining a roster featuring the likes of Hockey Dad, Bad//Dreems, Paradise Club, TEES, The Pinheads & more, is Boston based duo Vundabar.

Today, Vundabar reveal their single ‘Burned Off’, an instantaneous hit of bright, guitar driven indie-rock. ‘Burned Off’ is the first offering from their upcoming album ‘Either Light’, which was produced by Patrick Hyland (Mitski), and is set for an Australian release in August.

Delving into the origins of the track, vocalist & guitarist Brandon Hagen reveals that “’Burned Off’ is about the transience of mood, how low lows can give away to high highs as the soggier emotional states ‘burn off’ with the heat of the afternoon”.

First coming onto Farmer & The Owl’s radar when they toured with Hockey Dad in the US in 2017, Vundabar were set to grace Australian shores this year to support Hockey Dad on their 2020 album dates. Despite those shows having to be postponed, Vundabar plan to tour down under as soon as they’re able to.

Farmer & The Owl co-founder Jeb Taylor speaks about his first time witnessing Vundabar live, and welcoming them into the family, saying “the first time I saw Vundabar they totally owned a show at the Bowery in New York. They were fun and full of energy but beneath all of that were some really amazing songs. After seeing them a few more times across the US on tour with Hockey Dad and getting to know them, I really wanted to help introduce the band to Australia. After listening to their previous record 'Smell Smoke' a lot over the last couple of years I'd built up plenty of anticipation for the new album. When I was sent a copy of it I knew we needed to make a local release happen for it and thankfully everything aligned so it could. I really look forward to more people hearing this band in our part of the world and also everyone eventually experiencing the band live down here.”

The feeling is mutual, with Brandon chatting about signing to Farmer & The Owl for AU/NZ, saying “we’re ecstatic to join the family over at Farmer and The Owl, having spent a month on tour with Jeb and Hockey Dad, we know we’re in good company both in music and in playing dice”.

A dice rematch is most certainly on the cards.
