Body Type & The Pinheads announce East Coast co-headline tour

It’s hard not to mention the tumultuous year that was, as far as touring bands went. Well, it was non existent. Regular touring musicians were forced to spend a year in a reflective space, out of their body’s and deep into their heads, not knowing where their fate lie. With things finally starting to look up, we’re taking this window once again to coalesce our heads with our body’s in the form of a good old fashion East Coast Tour with BODY TYPE & THE PINHEADS.
For some years now the two bands have moved in similar circles and have had similar trajectories both locally and abroad. Some members of which even sharing households. After realising the bands had never actually shared a stage, murmurs began to take shape and what started out as putting on a local show together, soon turned into a co-headline tour.
Body Type & The Pinheads will be taking their electric live shows to Brisbane, Burleigh Heads, Sydney & Wombarra. The tour kicks off in Brisbane at West Room on Fri 26 March, with support from Perve Endings, then moves onto Burleigh Heads at the Burleigh Bazaar on Sat 27 March, with Love Banana also joining the bill. The next weekend sees both bands play to home towns, taking over the Paddo RSL on Sat 3 April with Display Homes coming along for the ride, and then finishing up at Wombarra Bowlo on Sun 4 April, joined by Sweetie.
The Pinheads have become renowned for their energetic and unapologetic live show, which has led to countless Australian tours, a stint in NZ, as well as embarking upon two UK and European tours, as well as an appearance at SXSW. Their live reputation has also seen them support a number of acclaimed bands including Fat White Family, Babe Rainbow, Bad//Dreems, Amyl & The Sniffers, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, as well as additions to festival line ups such as Yours & Owls, Fairgrounds, and more.
Shared experience is as close to a Body Type mission statement as you might find. The four-piece – featuring fellow guitarists and vocalists Sophie McComish & Annabel Blackman, bassist Georgia Wilkinson-Derums, and completed by Cecil Coleman on drums – patched themselves together in Sydney in 2016 and found they each contained pieces that perfectly complemented one another’s. They soon set about articulating their ideas through jangling guitars and scuzzy, lo-fi production, and found that audiences at home and around the country were eager to get sucked in. Body Type have released two EPs (‘Body Type’ in 2018, and ‘EP2’ in 2019), via Partisan Records / Inertia Music, with runs of Australian & international shows under their belt, and support from the likes of BBC1, KCRW, and RRR.
These shows are finally bringing you the dream bill you’ve been waiting for, so get your tickets now.
